MBP Pro 2016 USB-C

Unread post by ea5xq »

Hi all

So far I have been using RUMlogNg connected to my IC756 and FT857 via USB with my MBPro 2012 without any troubles (activating CAT correctly etc..), however I have just changed to the new MBP 2016 with Touch Bar and it seems that the things will not be the same.

MBP 2016 comes with USB-C ports so you need a adapter to USB in order to manage the rigs. I did it and I does not work. no way to control from RUMlogNG the rigs. Any of you in the same situation?

In parallel with my tries, I am going to prepare a workaround. I have a Raspberry Pi that I used for controlling remotely my FT817, so I was thinking to use it to link RUMlogNG with the rigs via IP , is it possible? any experiences with that configuration? Is it possible from RUMlogNG to access somewhere else that could control the rigs via LAN?

Thanks for your comments

Just tested the major three on a trx: Silicon Laboratories, FTDI and Prolific. All work as expected out of the box. There was no need to reinstall a driver, I migrated all data from a Time Machine backup. I used a simple €2,99 USB-C to USB-A converter plug.

RUMlog can control a trx via LAN. On the other end you need a tcp/serial converter.

Probably I had something strange in my configuration, I have just reinstalled the driver and now it works like a charm.

I will try the control via LAN for this Xmas holidays ... now at least it works!

Thanks
