DXCC - Deleted Countries

Unread post by K6LE »

I am updating a friend's DXCC count and bringing in a bunch of countries that he has DXCC credit for but were before he went to computer logging.

One problem I am having is when I import his updated file he has about 30 deleted countries which don't make it in to the DXCC list for RUMlog since the DXCC.rsd file doesn't count deleted countries.

While it's true that deleted ones don't count for Honor Role most DXer's keep track of them because they are contained in their DXCC total.

I will probably have to go back and add the deleted ones he has to the DXCC.rsd file but I wonder if there is an easier way?

Does anyone have a fairly extensive deleted countries list that they have available in the "Upload" format for DXCC.rsd?

Also, I wonder if there is a way to keep track of DXCC counts for both All (including deleted) and Current DXCC totals on the list for future enhancements.

This brings up a question I forgot about.
I've worked the two entities Curacao and Bonaire in the Netherlands Antilles before it was disbanded into 3-4 entities.
Since the creation of these new ones does that mean when I later worked Curacao and Bonaire that I get credit again for them since
they are independent?

Curious how to count my DX cards as I am still under 100 entities towards my DXCC.

If you had both deleted entities and then confirmed the 4 new ones after 10/10/10 you will have credit for 6 countries for DXCC.

However, the two deleted won't count for Honor Roll. At this point I doubt that's of much concern for you. :)

Tom,

Here is probably the best list available. This is from the ARRL.

You are right, there are some very interesting entities on this list. I ran in to about half of them while updating the e-logs for my friend Pat - K6OQ

The more I think about the work involved in adding the deleted countries they more I wonder if it's necessary.

The reasons I say that include the fact that the main reason I want my DXCC count to be correct is so that when a country I need shows up on the spotting network I want it to be indicated on the DX Spots screen. Since Deleted countries are not going to be spotted I actually don't have a need for them to be in the DXCC.rsd file.

If I want to know how many total countries I have (current and/or deleted) I can check Club Log or LoTW. But, for day to day usage I only need the current countries.

So, while it would be "nice" to have them in RUMlog I'm not sure it would be worth the work to add them to DXCC.rsd.
