Little Snitch alerts regarding RUMlogNG network access

I'm installing RUMlogNG on a Mac which has Little Snitch installed.

As soon as I open the RUMlogNG preference pane, I start seeing lots of Little Snitch alerts that RUMlogNG is accessing various websites I've gone to in the past. These sites are totally unrelated to amateur radio (e.g., https://parcelapp.net) and it appears to be loading sites out of some browser history or similar.

For example Little Snitch's dialog states:

Code: Select all

On Nov 26, 2024, RUMlogNG via com.apple.WebKit.Networking tried to establish a connection to parcelapp.net.
and:

Code: Select all

Established by
/System/Volumes/Preboot/Cryptexes/OS/System/Library/Frameworks/WebKit.framework/Versions/A/XPCServices/com.apple.WebKit.Networking.xpc/Contents/MacOS/com.apple.WebKit.Networking
I searched this forum, but saw no mention of this behavior. While I suspect this is some underlying overly greedy caching mechanism, it's off putting to see a ham radio logging app access tens or hundreds of sites I've viewed in the past that are unrelated to its function.

Is there any explanation as to what's going on here?

Thanks & 73,
nall, AI6W.

That's really weird. Do you run the version from the app store?

This is what I see after opening the Preferences.

Thanks for the prompt response, Tom.

Yes, I'm using App Store version: 5.18.3 (668)

OK an update -- there does seem to be some low level network caching going on. I denied another 20 sites or so and then the alerts stopped.

Then I quit RUMlogNG and deleted all of the entries in Little Snitch. I restarted RUMlogNG thinking it should start all over again, right? Nope.

Little Snitch is no longer alerting me for any access to unexpected sites. I did setup qrz.com and Little Snitch prompted me to allow that (as expected). So this is no longer an issue for me it seems.

For future readers... my best guess is that this is a one time caching issue.

Just it happened to me as well! It indicated webpages I visited for years ago.
I opened the Preferences window few seconds after Little Snitch updated the database.
