K3 and RTL-SDR

Unread post by N3RTW »

I've got a K3 and am trying to figure out how to get a bandscope on my computer and to have it be able to control the rig. I guess I got spoiled with the IC-7300 integration :)

I have an RTL-SDR connected to the IF-out port, such that whatever my rig tunes to appears at 8.125MHz on the SDR. I found a project by N2IW called `cat-relay` that syncs RL to SDR++, but none of the frequencies line up. Modifying cat-relay won't help because I need the SDR app to do the frequency translation.

SDR++ can talk to an flrig backend and has an option to enter a rig IF, which the author says should do it. But I can't see how I could integrate that with RL.

If I plug the SDR into the RX Out port instead of IF out, and enable the RX Antenna on the K3, the SDR hears the antenna and this works, except that I can't hear anything on the radio.

Anyone done this? I'm not married to SDR++, so really anything would work.Or if there's some way on the K3 to listen while the RX antenna is in use (other than some kind of splitter so I can loop it back to RX-in and the SDR at the same time)
