Can't get rid of DX spot Aural alarms.
Can't get rid of DX spot Aural alarms.
My installation of RUMLog is working fine but a friend (K6OQ) seems to have something messed up in his installation.
Everything seems to be working fine except the cluster alarms. We don't seem to be able to turn off Aural alarms!
I have set it to "No Aurals" and also unchecked all the alert boxes yet it still gives us the voice alarm.
Over the last week or so I have trashed the .plist file several times and it keeps coming back with the alarm even when everything is unchecked.
The only clue I have that there is something fishy going on is after I delete the .plist and then open RUMLog the preferences still seem to be filled in with most but not all of his info. Almost like there is a hidden .plist that is being accessed. Does any of this preference information get stored in the .rsd file?
My next step will be to export his log as an ADIF file, reinstall RUMLog, delete the Rumlog.plist again and see what happens with a hopefully clean installation.
TIA,
RIck - K6LE (and Pat - K6OQ)

Re: Can't get rid of DX spot Aural alarms.
Check if the option Menu--Log--Speak Callcheck Results is set. These announcements are similar to the dx cluster alarms.
There were few cases, where the prefs file was corrupt. I never heard, that the RUMlog application itself was faulty.
Some data are stored in th log file, all data you want to have in relationship with the log. Data like Name, Grid, LoTW access data. The the manual for a full list.
There are no hidden data. RUMlog writes data only in its own folder, in the logbook file and in the prefs file.

Tom,
Thanks for taking the time in your busy schedule to respond.
I'll take a look at that after the WAE test this weekend.

Re: Can't get rid of DX spot Aural alarms.
"Speak Call Check Results" was the problem.
I was chasing a problem with the packet alerts and didn't look at the rest of the menus close enough! Thanks!
In the meantime, while I was looking around the menus I found the Properties selection in the Window menu and was able to increase the size of the font in my DX Spot window. Don't know when you added that to RUMLog but it's great!
Thanks again,

Re: Can't get rid of DX spot Aural alarms.
I'm having this same trouble and can't figure it out. I have "No aurals" selected and I don't have "Speak Call Check Results" checked. I do have Growl checked and I get the visual notices. But I cannot turn off the voice announcements. What am I missing?K6LE wrote:"Speak Call Check Results" was the problem.

Re: Can't get rid of DX spot Aural alarms.
When do you hear the voice? When a dx spot comes in? When you press a key?

When a needed spot comes up and the Growl appears on screen.DL2RUM wrote:When do you hear the voice? When a dx spot comes in? When you press a key?

Growl is displaying notices on needed spots. I don't see a voice setting in Growl preferences. Does Growl automatically announce?DL2RUM wrote:Is Growl talking to you?

No, it's an option. Are you sure Audio is off? I don't see another reason. Never seen problems with that.
