ESM sending Macro to K3

Unread post by KK7A »

Is it possible to have ESM in contest mode either send a K3 Macro or Press the Memory buttons in K3 Control. I'd like it to send my call or a CQ depending on if I'm running or S&P.

Thanks, Jim - KK7A

Why do you want to do that?
When you use a K3, you should configure the internal K3 CW keyer. This allows you to take full advantage of ESM.

That is what I do for CW and it works great!

But, the K3 can record voice into the memories if the mode is set to LSB or USB. It would be nice to send the macro to push the button for me for voice contests.

Oh sorry, I was CW focused.
I have to think about it. What do we need? What us useful?
  • CQ
  • My call
  • Tu msg?
  • Exchange msg?
  • ??

I think all 4 of those would be great. CQ and My call as a minimum. Exchange would be interesting in that some exchanges are dynamic, so you'd need to be able to turn it of for the exchange if necessary.

Perhaps under Contest->Preferences->Phone>Memories you could have a choice to map F1-F8 to one of the K3/KX3 Control->Internal Keyers -> (Buttons/memories) Mem 1-4 Bank 1 and Mem 1-4 Bank 2. This way you can chose either a sound file or the internal K3 DVR memory as an action.
