Log is very slow

Unread post by DJ8OG »

Hi,

Im new to this forum. I would like to switch to rumLog. Im trying it with a Macbook pro 2,53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB RAM, currently runing snow leopard but will change to lion soon. Everything works fine with my testlog but when I import my log from the past years (almost 70.000 QSOs) it slows down. To clean the entry field with (CMD+W) it takes about 20 seconds, is this normal when the log gets bigger? If everything works well on this computer I will run the logbook on a mac mini with an i5 processor (I dont have it yet so the test system is my laptop).
Is my current configuration to slow? I hope not ... :-)

My second question is for importing my old log: How do I have to name the "state" field for DOK and US States to be imported correctly in this field. Is there any field for us counties?

Thanks for your help in advance,

Best 73s,

Displaying and scrolling 70.000 log entries in table takes a time. It is recommended to reduce the displayed number of QSOs. Above the log table is a popup menu provided, where you can adjust it. Just show the last 2 years only, or the last 1000 QSOS. This should be sufficient for the most case. It is important to note, that this will affect the full log view only.

During an ADIF import the data provided after the <STATE> tag will be written into the "State" log book database field.

There is no dedicated County field.

If you are interested in a correct dxcc statistic after a log import, you should read this prior using RUMlog: http://dl2rum.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=277

Hi Tom,

thanks for the fast reply. I changed the log to "show last 1000" and it is faster now.

To bad there is no us county field, anyway. I will try the log in the next weeks with my macbook pro

Hope to hear you in WAE SSB, I will be CR3L ...

Thanks again,
