Missing US States, etc

Unread post by NW6J »

First time to try RUMlog & RUMPed over the weekend. It took a while to learn it, but patiently, I think I was able to manage certain functionalities. I do have a couple of questions.

I noticed that the US States window and States information in the log are not tracked. So, if I logged a US QSO, the State in the log is not populated, nor the US States window (no "x" marked). How can I fix this?

I use an FT-950. I am not sure if I have the correct settings, but I cannot seem to have the frequency reflected on the log. Is it suppose to? For instance, if I change the frequency in the radio, should the frequency in the log change as well (as well as the other info, like mode)? If I use the DX Spots or Band Map, and I click on the callsign, should the freq on the radio and/or log change and go that freq? What should I do?

And last (for now), I use LOTW. What is the best way to upload my QSOs to LOTW? To test, I highlighted a QSO from the log and saved it as an ADIF file. Following your instruction to place the tQSL app in the RUMlog folder, I activated TQSL, loaded the ADIF file, then saved the TQ8 file (I noticed that the saved TQ8 file does not have a TQ8 extension). I then went to LOTW and uploaded the TQ8 file. LOTW said my file is on que, but I have not seen it yet (it's been about 11 hours since I loaded the file). Is there a faster way to do this?

Thanks.

You have to enter the state into the "State" field. When you are a qrz.com subscriber you can take over the data by a simple mouse click.
if I change the frequency in the radio, should the frequency in the log change as well (as well as the other info, like mode)? If I use the DX Spots or Band Map, and I click on the callsign, should the freq on the radio and/or log change and go that freq? What should I do?
All this should work as you mentioned. Make sure, you have made the appropriate settings for the com port.

What is the best way to upload my QSOs to LOTW?
I don't know if there is a "best way", but I prefer the full automatic upload. It is important to make all settings under the LoTW/eQSL tab in the preferences. When you have chosen an e-mail option, the tq8 file will be created and uploaded just by Menu-->QSL-->LoTW-Export tq8
When you have set a password for signing a file you have to enter this as well in a dialog.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did try entering the US States, and now that works.

On the upload to LOTW, I will try that process and see if it works. The log I entered last night is still not processed in LOTW so I don't know if what I initially did works. Must be alot of uploads in LOTW from the CQWW SSB contest that the servers are overloaded.

With regards to the radio connection, I can't seem to make the radio to change. So if I click on a DX spot, the callsign, mode, and frequency in the logbook changes, but the frequency in the radio does not change. Can you recommend a setting I can try? I am using an FT-950. I am also using a USB-Serial port adapter by have installed the driver. Thanks.

One more thing, I noticed that under the Transceiver menu, the Use TRX #1 (and TRX #2) are grayed out. I do see the TRX #1 button whenever I click on Reinit TRX #1, but it doesn't do anything when I click on it.

Update (10/31/11, 10:45pm PDT):

I was able to finally set up the parameters for the comm port. It now works. So, the only thing that I need to verify is the upload I made in LOTW. So far, I have not seen any upload in LOTW. Must still be overloaded.

Fine with the TRX.
To see all the options for LoTW see the User's Manual page 71ff.
