Very slow response in Callsign entry window

Unread post by af8a »

Hello Tom & Group - I am running RL 5.15.3 on a 2018 Mac mini, 16 GB memory, Sonoma 14.4.

For some months now (I update RL regularly) the response to typing in the Main Log Callsign window, when entering a new QSO, is very, very slow. I can type pretty quickly, but the response (echoed characters in the Callsign window) are very slow. They appear one....at....a....time....hundreds of milliseconds between the characters appearing. The other QSO fields seem to react in the normal time (no noticeable delay).

My log is big, almost 100,000 QSOs. I closed that log, then started a brand new log, with only 150 QSOs, and the same conditions occurs, slow response.

I have looked through all of the Preferences, making sure I that CAT is set to off, I am not using any UDP features, WinKeyer is not connected, etc. I am not networked with another computer. I am of course connected to the Internet (I download the various databases, such as from Club Log, regularly).

Ideas welcome. Thank you.

Calculating the dxcc entity is the most time consuming process while typing a callsign. The Club Log DXCC database or your personal DXCC exception list (Preferences-->DXCC) could be culprit.
