RUMlog and Spot

In RUMlog is a simple terminal for dx-cluster connection integrated. That's quite okay for most of the users. Others need a more comfortable dx-cluster application. Some users run Spot by K3NC (
http://www.abrohamnealsoftware.com/ - US$ 15,-) Spot can act as a local server, so RUMlog can be connected to spot. This allows to use the advantages of both programs.
To activate the server open the Preferences in Spot under the Program tab:

- Spot.tiff (1.3 MiB) Viewed 9057 times

- Spot.tiff (1.3 MiB) Viewed 9057 times
Check the "Enable Server Port" box and enter a port, e.g. 7300. This port must not be used by other programs, even for cluster connection.
In RUMlog enter a new cluster connection:

- RUMlog.tiff (126.34 KiB) Viewed 9057 times

- RUMlog.tiff (126.34 KiB) Viewed 9057 times
The address is 'localhost' and the port must be the same you entered in spot, e.g. 7300.
Now you can select "Spot" in the cluster list in the RUMlog terminal window.

I still get question marks in the mode column and I also noticed the frequency has a comma such as 7,100.00, if that has anything to do with the ???? problem. The author of Spot recognized there might be a problem or bug but has not got back to me in about a month.

I was in contact with Neal, K3NC to inform him about this possible bug. A 'normal' dx-cluster sends spots with the frequency formatted like this: 14195.0 - No comma for the thousands and a period for the decimals. RUMlog expects this normal used format.
It seems to me, Spot exports frequencies in the format you have selected in your System Preferences in the "Language & Text section" under the "Formats" tab.
Try the following: Customize your system settings to remove the comma, separating the thousands. When the dx-spot is showing up correct, you should contact the author from the software you have payed for.

- Numbers.png (23.99 KiB) Viewed 9030 times

- Numbers.png (23.99 KiB) Viewed 9030 times

Thanks, That cured it. I changed the separator for thousands in numbers to none.

Another thing that is kind of minor, but Spot causes double spacing in the terminal window. I'll bounce this off of Neal, too.

Yes, the double spacing is there in RUMlog or MLDX so it's an issue with what Spot outputs.
I don't notice it much because I usually minimize the Terminal window to the dock and only have the "DX Spots" window open and it isn't double spaced.
I have been using Spot to be my cluster server for RUMlog and MLDX together. That way I have clickable frequency setting no matter which logger currently has control of my rig. Works great!

Hi all,
i'm somehow new to Spot and RUMlog. What is the quick win to connect RUMlog to Spot instead to, let's say, VE7CC ??
Thanks in advance.
