LAN or WLAN connection to Icom IC-705, IC-7610 or IC-9700

Unread post by DL2RUM »

See the download section here to find a macOS tool Without Wire.
When using this app, you can connect another app to the build in server for CAT control or audio transmission. Tested with RUMlog and WSJT-X.
See the Help file in the app.

Does it support the audio over WLAN as well?

Thank you! I'll test it as soon as possible

Version 1.1 can be download from here: app.php/downloads
Now it is possible to stream audio from the Sub Rx, suitable for the IC-7610 and IC-9700.

this is a GREAT utility for the 705!!

I just downloaded version 1.1 and immediately connected to the radio via WLAN, and started receiving the audio stream from the radio to my ma cbook pro speakers.

I am having trouble connecting to teh radio via bluetooth for teh CAT function - I read the help .pdf, but in the app the 'connect' and 'pai' buttons appear to be disabled. I see a yellow indicator between 'connect' and 'disconnect' in the bluetooth LE section, but only the disconnect button appears enabled. clicking it has no effect.

I am running MACOs 11.4 if that matters, on an intel macbook pro.

Any help much appreciated! By the way, do you have a patreon or other way in which I could express my gratitude for your work?

Why do you want to se the Bluetooth LE connection?
This is not official supported by Icom and I implemented this for demonstration.

The Pair button should be active after program start. You can make the window wider to see debug the info, this may ve helpful.

Tom,

trying to get teh CAT functionality to work with the 705... I'd be happy if all worked via WLAN! :) I am sure it is operator issues on my side...

what server do you use in WSJT-X? I have had partial success by selecting DX Lab suite commander and server 127.0.0.1:7355 - this shows me a green light in teh TCP/IP section, but I can't find a good place to select teh IC-705 as the radio in order to get CAT working. I have downloaded Black Hole for the audio server and that seems to be working. Very close I am sure!

For WSJT-X you can use the WLAN connection. Just start the TCP/IP server and select the IC-705 in the WSJT Radio settings. Under Serial Port enter address and port. For example localhost:7374

Hello,

I am trying to run Without Wire.

The 7610 is connected to my WLAN with an ethernet cable, and shows an IP address (via DHCP) of 192.168.1.22 (which also shows up on the router admin table)

The Mac is connected via wifi to the same LAN, with address 192.168.1.11

I entered the 7610's ip address in the WithoutWire Transceiver settings address.

When I click "start" under ICOM client WLAN - the start button grays out. After a few seconds, the Control/RX field indicates: n/a.

When I click "reopen audio stream" - the Audio indicator turns green for a few seconds, then the Audio TX and RX fields display n/a and the audio indicator turns red.

restarting devices/apps yields the same results.

Is there something else I need to set - anywhere in the system?

Using Mac OS 10.15.7 and latest 7610 firmware.

Thanks,
Tom

Make the control window wider, then more debug information will come into view. Show us a screen shot.

Tom,

Many thanks. By watching the debug stream I realized a user/password was needed on the 7610. This immediately solved the problem. The audio streaming works, as well as the RumlogNG TCP CAT interface. And I am able to see CAT transceive frequency data using a Python client.

This is an awesome tool. Thanks again.
