Is there any way to turn off leading zeros for serial numbers in contests? For instance, instead of starting with 001, why not just 1? I know you can shorten it by sending TT1, but why send it at all? For instance in ARRL Sweepstakes, it does not require a 3 digit number.
It only really matters for the first 99 QSOs, but you'd be amazed at the number of requests I get for fills when I am late to the contest and I send 001 and the receiver wonders if it is 1 or did they miss the first digit and it was really 1001.
