RUMlogNG + WSJT-X + Kenwood TS570D - band change not working
Hi All
Wonder if someone here can offer advice on how I might resolve the following issue please.
I have RUMlogNG working almost perfectly with WSJT-X on my Kenwood TS570D. The only issue I have is that the Band Change drop down does not cause the Kenwood TS570D to change band, but if I change band and/or frequency using the VFO on the Kenwood the drop down and indicated frequency in WSJT-X does change. It appears there is only a one way communication exchange with RUMlogNG.
The sequence I get it all to run is as follows;
1 - Launch Kenwood
2 - Launch RUMlogNG - CAT control is then successfully established
3 - Launch WSJT-X - successfully launches and starts tracking on the indicated frequency/band
I have set up the WSJT-X data port in RUMlogNG prefs as 2237 which is as it should be, so I have no idea why changing the band in WSJT-X does not get passed through to RUMlogNG.
Can anyone offer advice for me please?
Many thanks.

Can you control mode and frequency from RL to the tx?

Yep, this all works fine. When I change the frequency in RUMLogNG the rig changes accordingly. I can manage DX clusters, bands, and all regular CAT control stuff from RL to the rig.

Pse post a screen shot of your RL TRX and UDP settings and from WSJT-X the Radio settings.

Of course, no probs. Thanks so much for helping me on this.
Hope these are the images you wanted to see. The image from WSJT-X shows TEST PTT as red becasue as I took the screenshot, WSJT-X was transmitting on FT8

Re: RUMlogNG + WSJT-X + Kenwood TS570D - band change not wor
- You have set two options for PTT: in WSJT-X and in RUMlog. You should use one option only.
- You have set Power up line RTS. This will disable the RTS flow control.
- In WSJT you should select Fake it for Split operation. This is not the problem, but strongly recommended.

Re: RUMlogNG + WSJT-X + Kenwood TS570D - band change not wor
I use a serial device connected to the RS232 port on the Kenwood for CAT control from the rig to Mac, and that uses CAT to control the PTT. WSJT-X uses a separate cable (from a different port) specifically for the Kenwood 570D, which takes the audio and mic from the Kenwood out to two 3.5mm connectors, and also uses a USB device to control PTT - hence CAT for PTT in RUMlogNG and RTS for PTT in WSJTX.DL2RUM wrote:

I had to use this because the Kenwood was using the microphone for the source audio in WSJT-X and there was no way to change that.
Not sure what to do here?
OK, again, not sure what I should do here. I use this for the reason mentioned above in 1st point.DL2RUM wrote:

OK, I shall amend that setting.DL2RUM wrote:

Disable PTT in WSJt-X or in RL Preferences-->UDP-->WSJT-X--Switch PTT
Disable the option Power up RTS line.
Disable the option Power up RTS line.

Re: RUMlogNG + WSJT-X + Kenwood TS570D - band change not wor
I can't see an option to disable PTT in WSJT-X, but I have now disabled PTT in RL.
Still no joy on the band change drop down in WSJT-X though! When I select an alternate band,it displays the band in WSJT-X for a second, nothing happens on the rig, then WSJT-X drop down reverts to where it was before.
Guess I am going to have to live with it.

The split setting is in the r/h upper corner of the Radio panel.
