Using RumlogNG in a network with N1MM+

Hi all,
I am using RumlogNG for my everyday logging, contests and tracking my awards and is very happy with the software. Thanks to Tom for developing the best mac software available for hams.

Every year, during the IRAU contest, I participate with other VU contest group members to put AT1HQ on air. This multi-multi effort is run with the help of stations networked from different parts of VU, with N1MM+ and VPN.

For me, who is using RumlogNG everyday, it is a pain to get a windows laptop and have N1MM+ installed and configured, learn how to use it and participate in the contest every year.

After seeing the latest update which mentions in the settings>UDP>xxx as N1MM compatible, I was wondering if we can have RumlogNG working as one of the machines which will log QSOs which will be transmitted to another machine/s running n1mm+ in realtime. Anyone has tried this? I tried running 2 instances of RumlogNG on different machines and they talk to and work with each other very well.

Any help will be appreciated!

regards

RUMlog is not designed to operate in a multi-multi environment.
Currently RUMlog just broadcasts status, radio and dx-spot information over the network.

Thanks Tom, so what does it mean when we say N1MM compatible? How does the data gets exchanged with other softwares?

Manoj

RUMlog broadcasts radio, app and dx-spot data as described here: http://n1mm.hamdocs.com/tiki-index.php? ... Broadcasts
For use with other RUMlog instances in the network, a slightly different format is used for providing logged, deleted or modified QSOs. This is not implemented in the contest module yet.

Ok Tom

The broadcasts are not received by N1mm, I have not tried any other ( TR4W) software yet.. I guess N1mm rx only TCP data for logging in to its database ( TCP port 52001). UDP data is not reaching the n1mm software from what I could understand.

Thanks! Will wait for the contest module broadcasts if and when it is available. If someone else has experimented, I will be very glad to receive any inputs/suggestions.
