Audio over LAN, IC7610

Unread post by LA0FA »

Using RumLogNG 5.11.1 . Question: Using the transceiver control through the built in Icom Server. How do I get at the Audio to/from transceiver via LAN for WSJTX/JTDX ? Currently I do the the audio through the MicroKeyer III while CAT is running over LAN. Very nice with Bandscope & DXSpots at high speed through LAN - but would also like to try with less cabling - just LAN for everything.

You need a virtual sound card like BlackHole to connect multiple devices.

I know this is way beyond your support - and thanks for the pointer Thomas. I just don't get it how til configure something like Blackhole or sound flower to the LAN and IP address of IC7610 .. don't see the config options for that ... so I am a bit analphabetic on this .....

  • Use the Audio-Midi-Setup application to create two new audio devices, one for each direction.
  • When CAT in RL is already running open the Audio window: Menu-->Transceiver-->Audio
  • Connect the devices accordingly at both endpoints - in RUMlog and in WSJT-X.
  • In RL you have to start the TX audio stream manually. It's off as default to reduce the network traffic.
  • Enjoy
It's recommended to use on all devices the same sampling rate. In the RUMlog TRX Preferences you can select 8 or 16 bit audio resolution and you can fine adjust the audio buffers if you experience audio drop outs. 8 bit audio for transmitting is not recommended, you will get a lot of harmonics.
