CAT issues and Reset CAT question

Unread post by EA3HOE »

TS-590S with RumLogNG 2.13.1(125) on Sierra 10.12 using USB on 115200 baud. RumlogNG sending data to FlDigi.

RumlogNG seems to lose track of the radio when i switch bands using the front panel of the radio. Most of the times i can recover by selecting Reset CAT #1 a couple of times (always more than one time). When i select Reset CAT usually i do get the frequency correct, but RumlogNG doesn't follow the rig. When i switch to CAT over TCP and use the TCP2Serial application all seems to work fine, so that's what i do now to get around the problem.
Question: What does Reset CAT #1 actually do?

Thanks again,

Ton.

When you use the Reset CAT option, the serial port will be reseted and reopened and the commands AI2;IF; are sent.

I don't see a reason why it works over TCP/IP and it dosen't work over the serial port. Please post a screen shot of the port settings for both applications.

This is the setting when i use native CAT control (the only difference is that CAT interface is set to Serial instead of TCP

Hi there.
Did you solve this issue. I am also having trouble connecting to my TS-590s. All options are exactly as yours but rumlogng is not communicating with my radio. When I turn frequency knob than the change is visible in rumlogng however when selecting the station from cluster window doesn't change the frequency or mode on the radio.

You have to select the frequency, not the station. Clicking the station gives you stats about the station, previous contacts, etc. Clicking the frequency changes the frequency of the radio. In the beginning i was confused about that as well, but i'm used to it now.

I still have the issue that usinig CAT over TCP and TCP2Serial is a lot more reliable than using the serial port in RUMlogNG.
Any ideas?
