Bug with distance calculations in statute/nautical miles?

Unread post by AA6OC »

I was browsing my log today, and discovered that the distance calculated to many stations in miles (statute or nautical) is much lower than the generic distance to the DXCC country. When I switch to kilometers, the distances are calculated correctly.

I know the distances to individual stations are shown only if a Maidenhead grid locator is in the entry. Since the calculations are correct using kilometers, I wonder if there is a calculation error in the software when converting to miles?

This happens both in versions 2.14 and 3.0. I just upgraded to 3.0 today.

Bob, an example would be helpful. Maybe you can post a screen shot too.

Hi Tom,

Here are screen shots of one station's info. Notice that the distance in miles to the station is much lower than than the distance to the generic country. The distances in km are very close, as they should be.

Tnx for the observation Bob. Due to programmers fault, the conversion from the metric to the english units is done twice.
The Station Info Box and the Calculations window are affected.
It will be corrected in the next version.

Thanks agn for the hint.
