ADIF TIME_ON/TIME_OFF

Unread post by OE6CLD »

Hi Tom,

I'm mainly using a Mac although my computer in the shack is still on Windows (easier with my Flex, CW Skimmer, ...). I just found out that when I import my log from an ADIF file (Log4OM) RUMlogNG will take TIME_OFF instead of TIME_ON. I rarely use TIME_OFF because I mainly work DX, so only TIME_ON has the correct time (TIME_OFF is unused and may stay the same for many QSOs). This mainly happens when I log my QSOs on paper and manually add the contacts to the log later. It may also happen when I log some contacts on my iPhone or iPad and enter them later or use a contest program (not sure yet).

Checking the ADIF I saw that RUMlogNG is importing TIME_OFF instead of TIME_ON (which is always correct):

Code: Select all

... <QSL_VIA:6>DIRECT <QSO_DATE:8>20160426 <QSO_DATE_OFF:8>20160427 <QTH:13>Easter Island <RST_RCVD:2>59 <RST_SENT:2>59 <RX_PWR:1>0 <SRX:1>0 <STX:1>0 <TIME_OFF:6>083059 <TIME_ON:6>204819 ...
... <QSL_VIA:5>TA4ED <QSO_DATE:8>20160426 <QSO_DATE_OFF:8>20160427 <QTH:7>Antalya <RST_RCVD:2>59 <RST_SENT:2>59 <RX_PWR:1>0 <SRX:1>0 <STX:1>0 <TIME_OFF:6>083059 <TIME_ON:6>182241...
... <QSL_VIA:5>YL2GN <QSO_DATE:8>20160423 <QSO_DATE_OFF:8>20160424 <QTH:14>Gilan Province <RST_RCVD:3>599 <RST_SENT:3>599 <RX_PWR:1>0 <SRX:1>0 <STX:1>0 <TIME_OFF:6>083059 <TIME_ON:6>211314 ...
Is there a way to configure RUMlogNG to use TIME_ON instead of TIME_OFF when importing an ADIF file? I understand that I can import TIME_ON into one of the user definable fields, but this does not resolve my problem.

I checked both the manual and the forum but without luck. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

The ADIF is from your exporting program?

Code: Select all

<TIME_OFF:6>083059 <TIME_ON:6>204819
<TIME_OFF:6>083059 <TIME_ON:6>182241
<TIME_OFF:6>083059 <TIME_ON:6>211314
The <TIME_OFF> is always set to 08:30:59! Why? This seems to be the primary failure. You should claim that by the author.

RUMlog prefers to use the <TIME_OFF> tag when available, otherwise the <TIME_ON> will be used. You could use a simple text editor and run the Find and Replace all function to replace all "<TIME_OFF:6>" words with a dummy. (<DUMMY:6>, or whatever). During an import, RUMlog will use now the <TIME__ON> tag and you are back into busyness.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your quick update! Replacing TIME_OFF with DUMMY is an excellent suggestion, I did not think about that  I would say from all 15000 entries I have, about 350 are wrong. I found out that these are the ones I manually entered (because I was operating from somewhere else /p or from a friends station). In Log4OM, if you switch from real time to manual time, the clock simply stops and you can enter date/time manually - which I only did for the start time. There is a checkbox to automatically set the end time (e.g. + 20 secs), but I never used it :) So I think it's mainly my fault.

Now RUMlogNG only needs a native connection to my Flex SDR Radio (client connection, not CAT connection) to make me 100% happy ;)

Thanks Tom!

I'll add my voice to those wanting Flex 6000 interface. Since I journeyed to Flex World, I really miss using RUMLogNG. Dare I hope?
