Contest parameters

Unread post by HB9FUH »

Hello,

First off, many thanks for the upgrades to RumLog, especially the integrated contesting feature - the software connects to my IC-718 much more reliably than RUMPed does.

How can I create a contest parameters file? We have a Swiss competition coming up in December, which isn't on the list, and I'd like to create a template for it. The exchange is signal report, serial number (minimum three digits) and two letter canton abbreviation.

Thanks,
Thomas

No, you can't. All contests are hard coded in RUMlog. Which contest do you mean? Where can i find the rules?

The rules for the Swiss contests can be found here:

There are four contests during the year, the one coming up is the Christmas contest on the first (SSB+PSK31) and second (CW+PSK31) weekends of December.

The addition of the contest facility is wonderful.

I wonder if you could add a 'generic' contest template that just allows a serial number (and possibly also a selectable option for another field, for example a locator code, or district, or age, or whatever). This would enable the programme to be used in a great many contests & QSO parties without having to individually code each and every contest. Scoring would point per QSO and no validity checking of eligible callsigns, but it would allow participation in a huge number of contests.

The USKA XMAS, Helvetia and a simple General contest without scoring will come with the next update.

Adding the ARRL RTTY Roundup would be nice.

I won't forget the RTTY RU.
Last weekend I was able to work few hours in the WAEDC RTTY. Tested ESM and other RTTY features, no QTC traffic so far. I used K3 FSK-D and Fldigi. I was satisfied.

Tom,

Danke!

I thought about the WAE RTTY test but figured the QTC's would make the template tougher and too much trouble for now.

Keep up the great work!
