Pushing DX Alerts to your iPhone

Unread post by DL2RUM »

Prowl is a Growl client for the iPhone. Using Prowl, you get pushed DX Alerts from RUMlog within seconds direct to the iPhone. This service is free, only for the app you have to pay few bugs. No changes are required in RUMlog.
For Prowl see: http://prowl.weks.net/
For Growl see: http://growl.info/about.php

Tnx to Lee, WW2DX for the hint.

Hi ALL,

just installed this application and it's running very well. I use it to send DX-Cluster alerts from RUMLog to my iphone.
So an auto re-connect functionality in RUMLog's dxcluster client would be very much appreciated as our ISP reconnects and renews the IP number roughly every 24h.

Hi Max,

in the RUMlog preferences under the DX-Cluster tab, you have to tick the 'Auto Connect' checkbox. This should enable the auto re-connect as well.
Drop a note, when it doesn't work as expected, since it is hard to test.

Can I assume that the Growl alert is sent to the iPhone via SMS Text message?

If so I would no want to pay at&t $0.20/spot!

Guess I'll stick to the email alerts.

No, Growl uses an own free server. No further costs. You have to pay for the app few bucks only. The messages are pushed via the internet to your phone, similarly an e-mail push.

Hi Tom,

"auto connect" is enabled. It works as intended. But when u are being disconnected from the cluster for some reason there is no RE-connect and you stay disconnected. A "keep alive" and "auto re-connect" wud be a nice feature.

Tom,

Is there a way to have the notifications include the frequency in the text of the alert? This would also be useful for the regular style alerts.

I could add it again, but why do you need it?
