UDP Broadcasting in RUMlogNG

Unread post by W4LUC »

Hey all -

I wanted to share a scenario to see if there is a better way to accomplish my task. In short, I essentially need to create a second port forwarding instance of 127.0.0.1:12070 to an internet address (QSOMAP n9ms.com:12070).

1-In RUMlog-->Settings-->UDP-->Contact Info (N1MM), I'm set to 127.0.0.1:12070
It is now broadcasting log data via the local host.

2- Then, those contacts are picked-up via the QSO uploader thusly: QSO Uploader-->Listen to-->UDP N1MM contact: Port 12070, Enable N1MM checked.
QSO data is being pushed to Clublog and QRZ.com successfully.

3- Now, I want to send that UDP traffic to n9ms.com:12070 but, from what I can see - with my limited knowledge - Rumlog does not accommodate any further forwarding.

Is there a way that I'm missing to send the UDP packets to another address? Is this something I must do with my Mac networking to forward the IP and port to QSOMAP?

Many thanks for any assistance anyone could provide.

Currently you can just use one address for the <contactinfo> broadcast. Maybe I have to add another set of settings. I'm in touch with Mike, N9MS concerning QSOMAP.

Hi Tom -

Another way to broadcast the data would be wonderful! Thanks for getting back with me and hope something good comes from you and Mike's chat.

Mike, N9MS has worked hard to make QSOMAP RUMlog (better: N1MM) compatible. Give it a try, but send the Contact Info only. Do never send other UDP messages to QSOMAP!

The next RL release will include a second set of settings.

Thanks for the awesome and agile implementation of the second settings.
