Without wires etc IC-705

Unread post by KC9WIB »

I'm trying to get WSJT working wirelessly to a MBP running Catalina

When I run without wires in TCP mode, I can hear audio from the radio, but the audio is offset by 12khz, I'm playing with AM, listening to 890khz, hear it fine on the radio, only hear it on the Mac when I tune the radio to 902, and the filter happens to be set to 6khz - what's happening here?

Next - I need cat control , so I'm guessing tcp2serial makes a serial port/device appear on the Mac that I can then use in WSJT- is this correct?

For audio in WSJT, does it also pass through the same serial port via the usb codec?

So is the process RADIO <--> WW <--> TCP2Serial <--> WSJT??

Or more likely am I misunderstanding something?

Make sure you have selected AF for WLAN output in the transceiver.
No need for TCP2SER, just connect WSJT-X direct to WithoutWire. In WSJT-X select the rig type and for the serial port enter your WithoutWire access data for the build in tcp/ip server, ie: localhost:7355
For audio you need a virtual sound card in the middle, i.e. Sunflower or Black Hole.

Almost there

Wsjt now receives the audio using black hole detects messages and displays them

On transmit though- no sound gets to radio for transmission , although cat control works

Do you have set Data Mod Input to WLAN?

That helped!

Now get "Big" signal wide and choppy on the waterfall

a more normal signal from direct usb connection :

I'm doing something wrong , I was over driving the audio. But when I lower the power/volume , the transmit signal on the scope looks bluish , not yellow or red and I don't get spotted
When I switch back to USB , the trace returns to normal yellow and I get spotted

I am using mod input WLAN and the WLAN mod level has been 50-70%

Hi,

I am trying the new version of without wires for the first time on my MBA M1 (11.3.1) laptop and 705 are connected to my home WLAN access point. I am able to monitor audio, and installed Blackhole 2ch and able to decode using WSJTX and JS8Call. Right now the issue I am trying to figure is CAT control, when a client attempts to make a connection, I see the status indicator in TCP/IP server section turn green, but client reports a timeout. Doing a Wireshark I see the socket connection is successful, and see the hamlib client sending command check_vfo etc, but I get no response back from 705.

705 Setup:
Connectors:
MOD INPUT:
DATA OFF MOD = WLAN
DATA MOD = WLAN
CI-V Address = 94h

I have used kappanhang on Raspberry pi experimentally in the past and did not observe this issue, but I have possibly reset the 705 since then.

Any tips or additional troubleshooting tips would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, and thanks for the software, I am very excited to get this working.

Hello Todd,

how are you doing?

Call is ct1drb, name is David close to Lisbon.

I do not have an ICOM-705 but have an IC-9700.

I have just a question: why are you using a hamlib client for ?

Here I do not use any hamlib client.

Best 73 and have a nice week.

Hi David,

Thanks for reaching out. I was assuming I would just setup wsjtx/js8call with the "Hamlib NET rigctl" set to 127.0.0.1:7355 for CAT Control and PTT.

Thanks,
Todd
