Memory Pad

Unread post by VE7ETS »

I'm a new RUMped user. Been a ham for many years but never very active and never did contests except for Field Day. So I have no experience with other logging software.

I really like RUMped! It made the ARRL 10m contest so enjoyable compared to logging by hand. And it keys the KX3 with the original programming cable; no other hardware required. Thanks so much for providing this software to the amateur community!

If you're taking feature requests, my only suggestion would be to copy the far-end station's report to the memory pad along with their callsign and frequency. I operate QRP-only, so the memory pad is a fantastic feature that allows me to wander the bands and mark stations with heavy pileups that I will eventually return to. Since many contest stations send their report at 35+ wpm, it can make it difficult for a casual cw operator to catch on the first pass. Having the report in memory would be reassuring. It wouldn't serve as well for sequential number contests, but might still help the operator copy the first few high-order digits.

Just a suggestion. Thanks again for your wonderful contribution to the ham community.

Hi Nathon,

good idea. Please note, RUMped has reached the end of life. RUMlogNG has now contest abilities and you should start to use it, when you run at least 10.9:

Oh. I didn't know RUMPed was a legacy product. I'll immediately switch to NG!

thanks, Tom
