Can't open COM port on Win XP

Unread post by vk3kfe »

Hi,

I'm trying to get RUMtrol working on my Win XP machine, but can't get it to open the serial port. I use a RigBlaster Plug'n'Play interface that works fine with other software such as Omnirig and HRD. The COM port is COM10 and is provided by a USB COM port adapter.

As far as I can tell there are no other applications using the COM port as I can use it with both other programs alternately with no problems.

Any ideas ?

Thanks,

David.

Hi David,
do you use the ICOM 746PRO or the 7000?
Are you able to select the COM10?
After that you get a message like "Can't open COM port?"

I remember a failure when using COM10 or higher (due to a bug in the compiler), I'm not sure if the failure is still present. Can you try out an other port and report?

Hi,

I"m using the IC-7000. I've changed it to use port 1 (by changing the COM port assignment in the device manager) and it now works fine! Looks like there may still be a bug. Thanks for the advice,

Regards,

David.
