Newbie with a question

Hello!
I am attempting to use Rumtrol7K for my IC-7000. I purchased the Prolific PL-2303 cable and installed the driver for my MacBook Pro notebook. When I click to launch the program it appears on the task bar momentarily and then disappears and I cannot access it. What is it that I am doing wrong with this?
